The MI vacuum-mop offers a perfect blend of convenience and technology. The 4000Pa suction in a robot vacuum is truly impressive. It picks up dust, hair and small debris from tiles, marble and thin carpets very effectively. It doesn’t just push the dust around; it actually cleans.

The LDS Laser navigation creates a highly accurate map of your home, including the placement of furniture. This is far superior to cheaper, random-pattern robots that constantly get stuck. It creates a much more efficient and precise cleaning path. You can watch your entire floor being cleaned in the MI Home app, which can be strangely satisfying for tech lovers.

App control and scheduling allow you to start cleaning even when you’re at work or away from home, meaning your house stays clean without you having to lift a finger. You can also set virtual walls and no-go zones, so you don’t have to physically block off areas with delicate items or wires; the robot will follow the designated path automatically.

It features simultaneous vacuuming and mopping, and with its 200ml water tank, you can easily perform light mopping. It handles these tasks very well. Although it’s not as deep and thorough as manual mopping, it’s sufficient for daily maintenance.

Thick carpets and rugs can create obstacles; the robot either gets stuck on them or gets tangled after climbing onto them. For regular cleaning, you will either have to remove these rugs or set up virtual boundaries, which affects the convenience of automation.

Mopping is mostly for light maintenance. In Indian homes where floors get heavily soiled (stains from spilled oil in the kitchen, mud tracks during the rainy season), you will still need weekly manual mopping. The robot can handle daily dust, but not sticky stains.

Using its smart features requires WiFi and the Mi Home app. Elderly people unfamiliar with the app might have to limit themselves to only the remote-controlled features. Also, privacy-conscious individuals should note that this robot creates a map of your house layout, which is saved on Xiaomi’s servers.

Areas with high thresholds (more than 2 cm) in the house become obstacles that it cannot cross. Many Indian houses have such elevated boundaries, which limits the robot to a single room unless you manually move it yourself.
